Guru – Glory
Today the society is in great need of great knowledgeable, skilled intelligent, true gurus, who guide the right path by imparting knowledge by the grace of God. But the question is what is the meaning of true Guru?
Guru is a Sanskrit word. It has many meanings. Like a priest (doer of others) a sharp-witted, intelligent being, in whose presence one feels peace. Whose promises lead to spiritual progress. Like parsimony turns iron into gold. Similarly, a true Guru makes the disciple aware of himself and identifies the soul. He corrects the misguided disciple by showing him the right path. Shows the way. So Saint Kabir while describing the eternal glory of the True Guru says:
gyaan prem hai, khushee hai, daya hai, bhakti hai, vishvaas hai, guru seva se paee, sad guru charan nivaas.
“teerth kee ek phal, sant mile phal charya, sad guru mile anant phal kabeer kah sujaan.
“guru bhukha bhav ka, dhan ka bhukha nahin, dhan ka bhukha jo phire ve sad guru nahin.”
“guru gobind dono khade, kisko laagoo paee, balhaaree guru aapakee gobind diyo bataay.
Kabir salutes the first Guru who shows Govind. Guru is considered a greater guide than God. Guru is a glorious word of only two letters. This small word is enough to give dignity to human life trapped in darkness. There is no better word than this to give respect to a human being. Whatever is achieved, whatever is made is possible only from the Guru. Guru is Deepak. removes you. Gives enlightening light. He becomes a guide and shows man the right path leading to salvation (peace).
“Gu” means darkness and “Ru” means light. Guru is the only one who leads from darkness to light, who leads from ignorance to knowledge. Thus, the guru-shishya relationship is based on trust.
A guru who never harms his disciple does whatever he does for the good of his disciple. The seemingly harsh step of the Guru is also only for the benefit of the disciple, but it requires devotion, unwavering faith. If this is the case, then the flowers of goodness will blossom in the vase of the life of the Guru and the disciple. A disciple’s dedication costs dedication and sows faith. The disciple who removes the thorn of doubt and offers flowers of faith at the feet of the Guru, he attains the best element of initiation mantra. There should not only be a bridge of love in life, but there should also be a pool of faith.
Who is the Guru? Guru means the one who gives knowledge. Guru means the one who gives true understanding of living. Guru means to show the way to fight the obstacles or difficulties that come in our practical worldly life. Guru is the one who makes us aware of our strength especially. Guru is the one who points out our weakness or weakness or mistakes and gives us courage to move forward. A guru who gives knowledge that can be useful in managing life and matures one’s mind to manage life. The guru should clearly state what the disciple is interested in, not what he likes.
The teacher who removes the troubles from home and shows the right path to the disciple. Such a Guru is like a Parsmani. He turns his disciple into gold with the touch of knowledge. Guru has such amazing power. Without the guidance of a Guru, our life becomes meaningless. At the feet of the Guru, as atonement for his mistakes, whose eyes weep, his mind is washed, and if the heart weeps, the sins are washed away. That’s why every human being should have full devotion and dedication towards his Guru, in this lies the success of life. In this way, by being in the company of a Guru, divine wealth comes within us and a sense of reverence comes. The one who increases the spiritual practice and improves our conscience, he is called the true Guru. May our heart be filled with love and devotion before a perfect man, may we confess our mistakes in life to him and if we weep for those mistakes, the mind is washed and purified and if the heart weeps, Sins are washed away. It is a matter of good fortune to have such a true Guru in life. Such a true Guru can move from darkness to Ugari Tej. Such a Guru has the infinite power of God.
The path of both the worldly and the spiritual becomes bright for the disciple who rests peacefully in the lap of such a true Guru with full faith. The words that fall from the mouth of such a guru are a sacred journey that takes the invisible soul to the heart of the disciple or mumuksha. The grace of such a Guru is the best strength of the disciple. Impenetrable is quach. Without this omnipotence or power is meaningless. Guru Kripa is something that a disciple can do with a touch of power, vision, will or meditation. The remembrance of such a Guru is called Kwach. It is a weapon that defeats the fear of the world. Therefore the disciple is not able to steer the wheels of our physical life chariot without a Guru, therefore the reins of the horses of the mind are handed over to the Guru, i.e. the chariot of life (Samsa 2) from which the Guru descends.
As we all pay respect to the Guru in our hearts on the auspicious occasion of Gurupurnima, our Srividya Foundation Trust family has been blessed by Guruji as the accumulated karma of all our past lives plays an important role. Let us bow down to Srividya Foundation Trust established by Guruji by taking the activities of Srividya Foundation Trust to the devotees through our scriptures and involving more and more people in the trust.
Society is made up of individuals. Guruji lays emphasis on social service. We all should do the work of public service and take care of the interest of the society. So that the society becomes healthy and pure. One should try to remove various defects like Karma-Anger-Intoxication-Greed-Hatred-Ego. Only then a good upper caste society will be formed. Therefore, reciting the initiation mantra while being aware of the teachings received by the true Guru has a great power to pacify the fickle and fickle mind of the disciple. The power to transform our Rajas and Tamas thought disorders into Susattva is our own experience and that of many disciples.
Let us pray to the Guru to shower his blessings on all of us like a cloud and move forward on the path marked by him to make life meaningful.
Without the grace of Gurudev, no one would have attained self-knowledge. All eighth prahar, my mind bows at the feet of the Guru.
Dhyanamoolam Gurumurti, Pujamoolam Gurupadaam, Mantramoolam Guruvakyam, Mokshamoolam Gurukrupa.
oṃ saha nāvavatu। saha nau bhunaktu।
saha vīryaṃ karavāvahai।
tejasvināvadhītamastu mā vidviṣāvahai॥
oṃ śāṃti, śāṃti, śāṃtiḥ
May God protect us both the disciple and the Acharya together. Make both of us enjoy the fruits of knowledge together. Together we both get the ability to attain knowledge. May both of us be brilliant in studies. Let us not hate each other. The mind of one who has such feelings remains pure. A pure future emerges from a pure mind.
